SENATOR Celina R. Babauta’s office on Capital Hill has been vandalized, and its surveillance camera was stolen.

Babauta on Monday declined to provide more details about the incident, citing an ongoing police investigation.

Variety learned that a rock was thrown through the office window where a security camera was located.

“I am concerned because it’s a crime against the people and a public office being vandalized,” Babauta said. “Regardless of political affiliations, we should all be concerned that a public office has been vandalized and, as an elected public servant in leadership, I am concerned about any official’s office being targeted.”

She added, “I am thankful that my staff remain safe.”

DPS has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, which sources believe happened on Sunday evening.
