(JKPL) —  Joeten-Kiyu Public Library has expressed its appreciation for the successful completion of its Japanese exchange program.

The program, which was held on July 27, 2023 brought together 11 students from Japan and six students from the CNMI.

The students participated in a variety of activities, which include a Chamorro read aloud; a library tour focusing on the Pacific Collection; a DIY STEM activity: the science of ice cream making; dancing; and a local food demonstration.

“We are grateful to the Saipan Mayor’s Office for including the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in this Exchange Program,” Library Director Erlinda C. Naputi commented. “This program was a great opportunity for our students to learn about each other's cultures and to make new friends. We hope that this program will continue in the future.”

A special thank you to the Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and the Northern Marianas Library Association for sponsoring this event.
