The Blue Jays' Scott Muna connects a hit against the Braves in the opening game of the Saipan Baseball League U12 Tournament  at the Miguel "Tan Ge" Pangelinan Baseball Field.

THE Toros, the Braves, and the Comets defeated their respective opponents by double digits  Saturday in the opening games of the 2023 Saipan Baseball League U12 Tournament at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Baseball Field.

The Toros were the first to notch a win after  easing past the Twins, 13-2.

The Toros were the first to draw blood in the top of the opening inning thanks to Caleb Cabrera's RBI double, bringing in Leighton Tenorio. Cabrera later reached home base himself to give the Toros the lead, 2-0.

The Twins had no answer in the bottom half while Toros were similarly left silent in the top of the second inning.

The Twins them came alive  at their turn at bat as Mymy and AJ rounded the bases to even the score, 2-2.

But the Toros recovered in the top of the third with six runs, led by Billy Flores and Yuki Castro, earning an RBI each, to regain control, 8-2.

The Twins had no answer while the Toros forced an early victory via the 10-run rule by scoring five more runs in the top of the fourth to win the game, 13-2.

Braves vs Blue Jays

The Braves were the second team to triumph as they shut out the Blue Jays, 10-0.

The Blue Jays struggled to find their footing throughout the game as most of the Braves’ runs came from base on balls.

The Braves’ biggest output — seven runs — was recorded in the bottom of the second inning.

The Braves pitcher Dam Merchades, for his part, recorded 10 strikeouts.

Comets vs Little Cubs

The Comets joined the winner’s circle by powering past the Little Cubs, 14-4.

The Comets maintained the lead with eight runs after three innings.

The Little Cubs tried to stay alive but could only muster one run per inning and were forced to wave the white flag by the fifth as the former clinched the win, 14-4.

The Braves' Dam Merchades
